Nice effort. Love that particular B24. Somewhere in my stash I have the decals to model that exact plane in 1/48 scale. On camera flash in #1? May have been a bit optimistic there. As I recall, shooting in the MoUSAF is akin to cave photography. It just sucks up all light. The flash-less exposures are (IMO) much better.

Yea, that wing of the museum is pretty dark and I didn't have my tripod with me. The SR-71 was from a balcony and I was able to set the camera on a rail and take a longer exposure.

Looks like they've moved the Blackbird since I was there last, it was in the hanger on base with presidential planes. All the hangers are rather dark and hard to get great shots. I have liked the SB ever since I first saw her as a kind in the early 70's.

^^^
There's an entire third hanger now. I haven't been back since they were in the original two buildings that sat on either side of the main entrance.

Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton Ohio. It is a must see for anyone that can make the trip. But shooting pics in that place is tough because of the lighting. You could literally spend all day in that place, it is that big!

^^I second that. When I was active duty Air Force, I lived right across the street from there. Anyways when I didn't have anything else going on, I would wander through the museum. But you could very easily spend three full days looking at aircraft and watching IMAX films.

Actually what we're talking about is the National Museum of the United States Air Force, which is located at Wright Patterson AFB.

They had three when I was there last. Plus the silo type in the rear with the missiles. Plus used the one on the base.

I frequent the WPAFB Museum. It makes for a nice short trip only being 35 minutes south of there. My kids love to go, too. I would advise anyone in the Dayton area to visit the museum. There are some great non-aircraft static displays as well.
