Post your Pelican Case distribution Photos !!

I just got the Pelican 1620 (it's pretty deep, and also has the carry handle for rolling it about).

Anyhow, before I figure out how to arrange my bodies and lenses, I thought it would be useful if anyone using Pelican cases would post a photo or two with their current arrangement.

This will help not only me, but all other Pelican Case owners, in order to find even more effective ways to store equipment.

Do you have the foam or the padded dividers?

By looking at my gear link, anyone can get an idea of the job at hand.

How do I go about getting Pads vs Foam inserts? Pros and Cons of each?.

The use I will be giving to the Case, is mostly moving it from the house to the trunk of the car, and then simply assembling the camera rigs on site for whatever assignments.

This is why I wanted to see other POTN user photos, see if they like to store their cameras assembled (w/lens), or if the lenses stand up or lay down (On this 1620 model they look like they'd be good standing up through foam).

Anyhow, any help is always greatly appreciated.

Pro for pads: can change your mind and re-organize it anytime you buy or sell new gear.

Pro for foam: can absorb more shock

So with the Padded Inserts, you actually get a two level storage?? Is this standard for the pads, or do you have to buy two separately?...

better check your dealer, this was an option (very expensive option) for this case. It is a deep case and I'm not sure whats available for yours.

From my understanding it depends on how deep your case is and I'm pretty sure that the 1624, if you get the padded version is dual level.

This place seems to have the best pricing. Did anyone get the backpack straps hahaha, no way jose would that be good for your back....

I have a Pelican 1514 that I have way too much stuff in. I have used it for for several shoots and it works good--- I bought the 1514 becasue it is a legal carry on size for airline travel--- the problem with mine is that it is WAY too heavy to make the airline requirements--I would have to carry the Mark and 70-200 like other photogs do.

I am seriously thinking about getting the 1614 (adjustable padding w/wheels)--so I can fit everything I want for a wedding shoot--- a few more lenses and flash units with pw's.

You know that's one of the considerations I want to put on the table. Which pelican case is "legal" size to carry on the plane. I see myself doing this when I travel and I was almost clear on getting the 1624 as my first and final pelican case for my gear (in my signature) with room to grow.

Unfortunately, the 1624 is not legal size. Correct me if I'm wrong and although the 1514 is legal size to carry on, you're right it can get heavy and will over exceed the weight limit. So back to square one.

What are you attempting to do about this?

In addition, between the 1614 and the 1624, aside from larger size, why not just get the 1624 and be done with it? Of course, you'd get the padded version and with wheels.
