LOL :-) Given what you are keeping in the case I would have though "Significant Force" would have been right up your street :-)

Well yeah, but when your significant force is in a case that requires said significant force to open, well... you're just at a loss. =)

Can somone please post a picture @ eye level with the case to see how low items sit in cases or protrude out top... preferably something w/ grip or 1D series bodies... somewhere around the 1550, 1560, or 1600 cases.

I tried the 1524 and had to send it back because with the size of my 20D/gripped and 1Dmk2 I couldn't close the lid without force and don't want to put that much pressure on these bodies. Don't really think it would hurt them, but don't want to take that chance either.

I'm looking at the 1600 w/ an inside depth of 7-3/4" (thats 1' more than the 1524) so I think that will work, but would like to see what others look like for comparison.

Thanks!

oh yeah.... Merry Christmas or whatever to all ! (bah humbug)

Cool, well that's a start... Thank's

I know the 1514 is approx 7-1/2" deep, so if the 1600 is 7-3/4", I should be ok with the Cotton Carrier button attatched or a L-bracket on...

I've got both a gripped 50D and a gripped T1i plus a lid organizer in my 1600 case. Works just fine in terms of clearance.

I might suggest to get the padded option and the lid organizer. Makes configuring the case so much more dynamic.

The lid organizer is great for smaller accessories since you can see thru the net material that they use.

I am deffinately getting the "padded dividers", but will hold off on the lid organizer as this case will be large enough to hold all my gear + room for expansion... Mainly I'm wanting a case that is deep enough that my bodies can stand up w/ the Cotton Carrier buttons on the bottom, (and i have an L-bracket in the mail for my 20D/gripped), but large enough to have room for expansion. I figure its better to have the space and not need it, than it is to need the space and not have it....

besides, seeing those voided spots will just force me to fill them with a 3rd body and/or more lens's

I originally did this layout & the photos to help someone stationed in Iraq who was looking at different options a long way from a store. Pelican 1450 with the divider set.

IMAGE: http://lh5.ggpht.com/_z3rAnHnUjjY/Se-iB6bKS-I/AAAAAAAAjYk/pJeKq9HkHDw/s800/IMG_0896.JPG

Along the hinge side is a 430EX in the Canon pouch, & my POTN camera strap. In the main area is a 5D2 and Sigma 80-400 OS lens with room in front of it for either a small prime or a 17-40 L, a 70-300 DO (that's what I have and it fit fine) or that Tamron 28-70 placed vertically. In the front row is a 24-105 f4 L which can be placed vertically but I feel it's just a bit too tall for comfort even though the lid closes. The empty section easily holds my G9

IMAGE: http://lh5.ggpht.com/_z3rAnHnUjjY/Se-iMHsxKwI/AAAAAAAAjYw/wl_nMjFRGg8/s800/IMG_0898.JPG
That's a 17-40 L now placed vertically (front center)

IMAGE: http://lh6.ggpht.com/_z3rAnHnUjjY/Se-ixLya4KI/AAAAAAAAjZU/58UjVuYP6WM/s800/IMG_0903.jpg
This shows how much the camera sticks up into the lid area. It DOES NOT have a battery grip.

IMAGE: http://lh4.ggpht.com/_z3rAnHnUjjY/Se-iUq6q7dI/AAAAAAAAjY8/RwxhpEXpdDk/s800/IMG_0900.JPG
This should show just how high the 17-40 L and Tamron stick up into the lid section. There's more than enough height left so the foam isn't overly compressed.

A skill is developed through constant practice with a passion to improve, not bought.

CICOPO-

Thanks for the eye level pics, I think that will really help in the decision making for some in terms of clearance.... especially with your 5D2 being NON-gripped. I'll have a lot of unused space in my 1600, but everything will deffinately have the clearance it needs!
