seems like people store the camera body without lens in the smaller cases. I only carry 3 lenses, so for my it's not unusual to have a lens on both bodies. Thoughts?

Pelican 1600

Not as impressive a set up as some others here and I went with the foam as this case is strictly for lighting gear only. I was a bit taken by the size of it thinking it would be a bit smaller but it actually works out better this way.

Odin TCU w/four receivers, 580ex x2, 550ex, 430ex, four gorilla pod hybrids(for when the stands stay home), one set
of spare batteries for everything.

I've been longing for a Quadra set up and the space where the spare batteries and Gorilla Pods are looks like it would fit the battery just fine. For the empty spot I was initially considering some CP-E4 clones but the Quadra heads would be better option IMO. :D

I'm liking these so much I'm thinking of getting another 1600 for storage and a 1510 for traveling about. Although I think I'll be getting those from TrekPak, I'm really digging their dividers over the stock velcro.

Christian.

My usual setup is my Tokina 12-24 on one body and the 70-300L on the other. I rarely use any other lens currently. It has the advantages of no dust into the sensor since no changing of lenses, less wear of the mounts and a ready backup too. Cameras are ready instantly too. I see no issue to leaving it on, properly padded of course.

I was thinking of the dust aspect too, esp on the 5dc. Stupid thing is a dust magnet!

^^^i initially velcro'd my organizer to the lid in fear that i'd wanna swap it out for the foam. in the end i just screwed the organizer in. much happier. too much weight in the organizer pulled the velcro off. and i used a LOT of velcro.

good to know. I didn't get the velcro yet, so I'll try the screws. with the batteries and some of the other things, the organizer is a bit heavy.
