Don't get the 1660 unless you drive or ship your gear it will cost a fortune to fly with it. I think the 1600 model is the largest that the airlines will accept as luggage with no extra fees.

This may be a useful tool for those deciding on a Case size:

Can anyone recommend a proper TSA lock that will fit the 1510 case?
Need to get one in time for a Sunday Flight. Amazon has this http://www.amazon.com …&keywords=master+tsa+lock (external link) master lock but I'm not 100% sure if it will work with the extra beef of the plastic. I was going to order the Pelican locks but the reviews on them are mixed.

Went and found the Master lock at Walmart. Was like $6 and change. Worked great, though the bag really never left my possession.

I give props to the 1510 case. It really can hold a lot of stuff.

I took a 5D2 gripped with 24-105 attached with hood
430exii flash
70-200 2.8is without ring
100-400 without ring
two chargers, 12 aa batteries, computer cable, rocket blower, CPS strap, and a bunch of cleaning products.

I was also able to fit 4 pairs of socks, 4 pair boxers, and 4 xxl tshirts in the case.

I didn't touch the two bigger lenses the entire trip (was sick the whole time) but next time I think I'll stick with one lens/camera combo. Perhaps adding a prime for night shots. I'll remove the dividers so that the majority of the case can be used for clothing and I'll use the clothing to protect the camera. What is really nice is that you know it is carry on compliant AND your stuff won't get damaged. I saw so many people trying to get on planes with carry-ons stuffed so full that they were twice the size of the sizing container. It was insane.

The 70-200 will lay flat but the rest will stand up with hoods on. My 5D2 fit with grip on, though I'm not sure how much height the plate would add. That would be my only concern. I'll have to try to find a straight edge and see how high my camera sits above the bottom case lip and subtract that from the top depth. The one thing that I would note is that there are only two rows to use, unlike a lot of packs/bags where you have three rows.
