Thanks man!

Sigma 17-70 on 350D.

Hey Luke,

I know someone who is looking at getting an SLR for a trip away. Anyway, she was looking for a lens that will be pretty good for landscapes and macro stuff. I know the 17-70 isn't an actual macro lens, but how do you find it? Is it good enough for an amateur who just wants to take some happy snaps and stuff?

Yep, saw that. eBay are basically using Australia as a Guniea pig.

It's not necessarily a given yet.

Reserve Bank of Australia objects to proposed changes. (external link)

The RBA has a fair bit of clout. I think eBay may not have it quite as easy as they think.

Interesting to watch though.

It looks like a case of third-line forcing under s53 of the Trade Practices Act. HOwever if they can determine that it is for a proper purpose, then it can be allowed.

Hmmm, I wasn't aware of that. Interesting to see what happens.

It sounds like it was effort but it really wasnt. I was browsing FMs For Sale section and saw it for a very decent price so figured while im at it i may as well get one. I didnt go hunt it down.

I'm almost afraid to ask what is considered a "very decent price" for an empty cardboard box?

I used to keep boxes but after moving houses three times I started to ask myself why I was hauling around all this useless crap.

The 17-70 has some pretty remarkable macro capabilities. It can focus obscenely close. If I could only have one lens, I think it would be it.

Was a small turnout, but it was still nice :) funnily enough, the non-Celicas outnumbered the Celicas at the beginning... :P

BTW, nice shots Clarence... not quite sure about the mashed wire fence in the background though.

Actually the fence is fine - it's the "bore water used" sign that really bothers me :p

It was the darkest place I could find on short notice...
