I bought a 30D and have been practicing with it for a few days now. I'm loving this camera...much bigger and sturdier than my XT...larger LCD screen...faster AF!

Here are a couple of photos of my daughter (I know you all must be sick and tired of seeing her, but she's my only model). Please let me know what you think!:D

Jenn, These are really cute... I love the 1st one. the pose is wonderful and I like the simple bg also. What lens did you use? Was it a wide angle? Either your daughter is going to be very tall and has not grown into her feet yet or you used a wide angle lens it is just made them look a little bigger.. I am sorry, That wasn't meant to sound rude or anything. Your daughter is beautiful and I love seeing the photo's you did of her..

I also really like the 2nd shot. maybe just a tighter crop to get rid of some of the top part of the photo. Nice work in all and thanks for sharing..

Thanks, Heather! I used my favorite lens of all time...the Tamron 28-75 f/2.8! I think I was lucky enough to have gotten a really sharp copy.:D And don't worry, I didn't think your comment was rude. My daughter just has big feet. It seems like I'm buying shoes every couple of months just to keep up.

Thanks for the comments and advice!:D

Thanks, Jack!:D She does give me some great genuine smiles, but sometimes the fake ones show up. Like on this one:

I would LOVE it if my daughter had such a beautiful "fake" smile. Lately it is a pissed off ,roll her eyes look..

I think these photos are very nice. Don't worry about using your daughter too many times. I am sure that you love shooting her (w/camera, of course) and they will mean so much to her later. I know that my granddaughter would be hurt if I stopped shooting her (w/camera, of course). Your daughter has a beautiful smile and is a very good subject. I am glad that you are loving your 30D. It is a very nice camera and I know that it will serve you well for many years to come, and you are so right when you say that it is a world of difference from your XT, which is a great camera in its own right. Thank you for sharing these shots.

Heather, is your daughter the one on your avatar? If so, I think she's adorable, even when she doesn't smile. My son gives me the same you-wanna-take-my-picture-again pouty look. At least you have your son who loves taking pics!;)

Thank you so much for your sweet comments! My daughter does have her moments, but she always seems to oblige. I'm sure your granddaughter loves her pictures taken all the time.:)

I truly love the 30D! I may have to get another one just for backup. Thanks again!

My daughter just turned 13 and wears a woman's 9 1/2 shoe already and she's only about 5 ft 2 in and weighs 100 lbs sopping wet. Her feet look just like your daughters. Pretty girl and some good shots.

These are really nice shots. I love the pose on the first. I can't wait for my kids to be old enough to sit still so I can pose them! :)

I, too, like the first shot a lot. I would try cropping a bit tighter just to see if it might even be a better image.
