Did I just hear laughter?

No, it was just my imagination.

Or a ghost.

Have you Calibrated your Monkey lately?

Did you wash your hands after using the D3? ;)

MDJAK wrote in post #5013918 (external link)
Besides being incredibly busy at work and elsewhere, I've been a bit busy shopping lately.

First and foremost, my apologies for the sheer boredom you all must be suffering from in my absence. It is with heavy heart that I've spent time doing other things lately, all the while knowing you've been crying in your milk without me to kick around. The multitude of "where the heck is mdjak" threads that have popped up have been so heartening. I understand firsthand from Pekka bandwith has been almost overwhelmed with the chatter regarding my recent absence. It's much appreciated as always.

Now on to my confessions, my loyal flock.

I've hesitated to share my most recent purchases for fear of being called, among other things, a show-off, a moron, a dolt, a braggart, in and out of that order. While I may fit the stupid bill, show-off and braggart is the furthest thing from my humble intentions.

So, without further ado, here are the things I've been doing and playing with lately.

1. My MacBook Pro just wasn't cutting it in the speed department. Rakefet told me she was getting a MacPro tower, 8 core. Could I let her have a faster computer than me, I ask you? I think not.
So, I've got a shiny 8 core tower, along with a new 23" cinema display along side my 24" Dell ultrasharp.

2. As many of my bretheren are aware, I've sold some lenses lately. All part of a master plan, my droogies. You see, for now, I'm keeping my Mark III as my long end of things, as I've retained my telephotos, and I've just picked up a D3 with a 14-24 and will be acquiring their new 24-70 shortly. Haven't had much shooting time with it yet, but I'm liking it so far.

I trust I will not be banished or derided for my decision to go partially to the dark side. I'm an unabashed equipment lover. I may even seek permission to post a sample here and there from it.

Well, I've gone on long enough. I'm just so thrilled that I could make you all happy again by gracing you with my smelly breignpharts. :lol:
me

so you sold the 1ds MK III, bought a D3 and a macpro? You showed up all of use canon gear-heads and need to move in on new territory? :lol: Im just sad you sold the 1ds :cry:

And they're all made out of ticky-tacky
And they all look just the same.

And to think, I let this man buy me breakfast.

Thanks for nothing. ;)

As to the camera choice. I expect you to immediately rent a 200 f/2 VR adn tell me if it's a bad ass combo. I have been tempted recently to rent this with a D3 and shoot for a day. Yes, teh same lens from Canon will be avilable soon and I already own a Canon, but it would be nice to see what I could get with it.

Are your images plasticky and does it track AF as well as the Mk.III? High ISO comparison is demanded between your two bodies ASAP.

And who are you again...

I didn't think we allowed Noink users here. Bad enough we allow Mac users. :p

Mac = awesome.

Noink = :confused:

I agree that you must do a cosworth and show us some high-iso tests.

But you swap gear around frequently enough, you'll be shooting Sony next!

Kind of windy in here, isn't it? Let's close the door....repeatedly...on a certain clearly deranged members head. Perhaps it will knock some sense back into him.

Congrats on the Mac!!
As for the D3, nice choice. I'm not one for chastising a different manufacturer just for the fun of it so enjoy shooting it and get us some comparative images will ya.
Oh, one last thing, don't be too ashamed to include the N-stuff in your sig. ;)
