Why not get the Leica as well? I don't see anything wrong with shooting more than one system. They have different strengths. The question is; can you remember all the buttons & dials?;)

Would love an in-depth D3 review from a high end Canon shooter

... but just because you own a high-end Canon doesn't make you a high-end Canon shooter. It just means you're a guy with a high-end Canon.

Right! Yeah! Yeah!
Burn him!

Ni!

And how do you know he's a witch?

'cause he turned me into a Noink!

I've got 2 CoolPix's that have been sitting around for years unused that would go swimmingly with that D3 Herr Richman....

I expect you to immediately rent a 200 f/2 VR adn tell me if it's a bad ass combo. I have been tempted recently to rent this with a D3 and shoot for a day.

Mark doesn't need to rent a 200 f/2 VR as he can borrow mine any time he wants to. Truth be told he purchased his D3 within a week of shooting with the 200 f/2 VR;) Please convince him he needs a 400 f/2.8.

Yes, teh same lens from Canon will be avilable soon and I already own a Canon, but it would be nice to see what I could get with it.

For the price of Canon's 200 f/2 you can get the Nikon with a D300 as an extra body and still have $200 left over for a nice bottle of wine.

High ISO comparison is demanded between your two bodies ASAP.

Don't do it Mark- there is enough of a D3 shortage already:)

For the price of Canon's 200 f/2...

We all know it will retail for close to the Nikon's price. Just like the 300 2.8 IS does.

people will always try to stop you doing the right thing if it is unconventional
Full frame and some primes.

Wow, I'm taking a much bigger beating than even I expected. And Loving every minute of it.

Hey, Curtis, if he wants to call me a high end shooter, let him. Who asked for your two cents?

Blew off the gym at lunch time today and froze my arse off instead walking around town. Here's a tiny sample shot wide open at 14mm. Little if any PP.

haven't really had a lot of time with it. Only got it on Tuesday.

Right off the bat, there are some ergonomic shortcomings, but I'll wait a bit to really judge. It's a very complicated camera with many, many options. For instance, you can cycle through 7 overlay pages of information on playback. I'm not crazy about how the magnify works, but it can probably be changed as I saw a different feature on the D300. The manual is over 400 pages and I've been real busy at work making money for more lenses. :)
More to come.
