Thanks for the replies. Dave, I've just started using Apple Aperture and I'm still trying to come to terms with the sharpening and NR side of it.

If you have the latest version of DPP it has a very good noise removal facility.....it's a free update if you have the original disc from your camera installed. www.moparuk.co.uk

Thanks Mitch. These birds are a winter visitor to our shores and this year they are rather scarce. Thanks Dave I'll look into that.
