I always find it super useful to open up my "idea sketches" or rough shots to comments when I'm working out the kinks, so I'd like input on this one. There's a few things I'm already planning on changing but I'll keep that to myself in the interest of getting unfiltered opinions.

I will say that the basic concept is going to stay, so please no suggestions of "it's nice, but you should shoot it with a girl on the beach" ;)

I like this as is! I think it would really lend itself to the so called Dave Hill thing.but I wouldn't like it as much then...urban gritty would be sweet.....I like the BG....

Thanks Flo,

One thing I'd like to work on is making the background a tad sharper, but that brings some issues with it. I like the falloff on the subject so am hesitant to increase DOF and putting the subject any closer to the background would make it really hard to light the background independently of the subject...

Something I'm gonna have to work on anyway.

So it's at 77 views and one comment... feel free to say if you hate it even, but some kind of feedback would really be appreciated

I like the BG from that standpoint that I'm trying to figure out what it is. And while that might be the photographer in me it does make me wonder if it is a distraction in general.
Does that make sense? I mean I'm aware that I look at photos now very differently than how I looked at them before I got into this passion/money pit!! Overall I like the DOF and the sharpness on your subject and lighting.
I know I would push it around in post but not really because it NEEDS it but rather to see what other looks can be attained (e.g. B&W could work really well...albeit not by my skills!).
Nice job!
