i just bought the lightware c6042 (external link). yes it spendy, but, i wanted something big enough to fit lightstands with swivel adapter and flash mounted, so i could just pull out a ready lightstick. i also wanted something padded so i could not worry too much about the stuff getting banged around inside. i am hopeful this will be the right bag for me. i haven't received it yet, but i will post pictures when i do.

Bump for more cheap ideas. I've been trying to look for options under $30 since most cases are expensive and I'm a cheapskate. I've been leaning towards this Mic stand bag (external link) since it also includes two inner bags so the light stands wont be banging against each other.

I just built my kit this week. All fits in a Bogen 25" Tripod bag.

QUOTED IMAGE

I keep all my connectors, cables, and umbrella adapters in a small tupperware case to protect it during transportation and the light stands. Everything fits very snug.

What brand are those umbrella clamps? I just got a photoflex and the thing is gigantic. I'd rather have something lighter... and those look nice and compact...

The clamps in the photo are probably the Lumopro "shorty" sold by mpex.com:

However, you might want to consider a variant I discovered recently at Calumet that's the same size, same price but comes with a screwed on (as opposed to riveted) adjustable clamping shoe much like the Stroboframe:

Dave, those look perfect for my needs... not that I really know what my needs are just yet, but they fit what I'm after. :) Thank you!

I just received a package from Adorama with the 001 and the Wescott like the picture above, and I was just amazed and disappointed at how huge and heavy the Photoflex clamp was.

I know just what you mean. All of the plastic umbrella swivels are extremely bulky (though light in weight). The aluminum Photoflex is both bulky and heavy. I've pretty much retired my full-size brackets in favor of the Lumopro/Calumet style of compact bracket. Incidentally, an additional benefit of the smaller swivels is that the opposing faces of the joint are grooved. Once the clamping knob is tightened, the joint will not slip.

I'm a little bit put off by the size of my Photoflex adapters, but i have found that if you bend it at a ninety degree angle while storing/transporting, it becomes much more manageable.

I really wouldn't mind them if I were putting it on a heavy duty stand, but it's a monster compared to the Manfrotto 001B stand.
