TWO BASKETBALL IMAGES

After a little help with ensuring I am saving my images for display on the web in the best way, I wanted to post two for critique. Please let me know what you think about all aspects of these images. Thank you.

Here is what i would do:

hit them both with a bit of levels adjustment nothing drastic... just lighten up the mid-tones a bit....... (settings listed below) and then crop em ....prehaps a bit of usm also but its hard to tell from a small display photo .... going to have to use your best judgement there....

# 1 looks good because he isn't centered and it really shows that he's moving from left to right on the photo but there is a bit to much head and foot room ..... i'd crop that one just a bit tighter.........hit it with a bit of levels adjustment nothing drastic... just lighten up the mid-tones a bit....... i would use 0 , 1.10 , 255 ....Then +8 on color saturation and from there it's looking good....

#2 i would crop it a bit tighter also.... make your viewers eye really focus on your subject.... it's not by any means a bad shot but without being cropped tighter there is a lot of clutter.... (kid walking through frame, kids in the bleachers etc) .... I would also hit it with a little bit of levels as well to bring up some of the mid-tones .... my settings looked like 0 , 1.18 , 245 but your preferances will vary depending on how you like your photos ...

Hope that was the sort of feedback you were looking for .... dont get discouraged, i think your exposure settings are looking good, your shooting spot looks good, and I appreciate the fact that you didn't take your shots standing up ..... man i hate it when people do that !! lol .... Keep shooting and posting, i'm looking forward to seeing more of your shots here soon !

Thank you so much for your feedback. That is exactly what I wanted. PSE 3.0 I do not have a levels adjustment there. I do however have Canon Digital Photo Professional 3.0 and try to use the level adjustments there. I am just not too good at it--yet. Thanks again for your feedback.

Huh? Of course you have a levels adjustment in PSE 3: "Command L" in Mac OS or "Control L" in Windows. It works just like it does in PhotoShop. See below:

I am saying levels but I am thinking curves. I guess I should not make comments before I have had my first cup of coffee. I did make a slight levels adjustment to these images. I am not very good at it yet but I do keep trying. It does not help that my CRT gave out a while back and I am using an LCD that has not been calibrated. The prints, however, do look very good (thank you MPIX). Thanks for your input.
