I have a 4 year old Compaq Presario 2100 and I always thought the color looked pretty good but after reading many posts about monitor calibration and color accuracy I decided I should try to calibrate my computer. I purchased the the Spyder2express, installed it and ran through the calibration process. At the end there was a switch to allow me to view before and after calibrations.

When I click the switch I can't see any difference in the 2 views. My question is how do I know if the software actually made any adjustments? I watched as it ran through all the calibrations and saw the colors vary as the software was running and at the end of the process it said the color had been calibrated and saved but again I don't see a difference in before and after. Should I be satisfied to think that my monitor was just that good?

Hi Joe,

Check to see if your monitor profile is available under "RGB Working Space" in Photoshop's Color Settings. If it's there, then it's active and Photoshop knows about it, then it's all good.

Note: DON'T set it as your working space - just check it's there.

Yes, it's quite possible that your monitor was pretty close before.

Yes, the Spyder file is listed in the working space so I assume the calibration is working. I am just surprised that a laptop this old and one not really configured for photo processing would be spot on.
