Very good!

I was, up til recently, quite pleased and excited about my decision.

The rationale' behind my thinking is this:

Most of the adverts for second hand cameras are either body only or with some crappy third party lens.
That says to me that, unlike the days of film, camera bodies have an obsolescence rate comparable to say, laptop computers.

When APS-C sensors are dead and burried (not long now) the landfill sites will be heaving with discarded EF-S lenses.
My 85 1.2 will still be a desirable optic and have some value left in it.

Cameras come and go but a good lens is always a good lens.

Why not just get a second hand film body frm this forum? I am sure you can make good use of the lens with a film body.

Not having a body (that sounds odd) for a while is not really a big deal.
I still have my P&S for High days and holidays.

Get yourself a credit card that does 9-12 months interest free on purchases - try Halifax - or go to warehouse express and buy a body on the never-never. they do 9 months interest free too, and the new rebates have just kicked in.

You simply have to get a body in order to disguise your....well, just get a body, OK?

The optic is being bought through Jessops in the UK and they have a 28 day any reason refund policy so, as you can see, the risk to me is very low.

Now I know you're insane. I doubt you could have bought at a more expensive price. You buy from Onestop or Kerso and ya could have probably afforded a SH 350D with the change ;-)a

I've always said you should buy good glass before spending lots of money on bodies... but this is just one step too far. :D

I'll trade you my 85/1.8 and a 350D with a grip for your 85/1.2 :D

Well I'm sure you have a front door, right? Replace your front door's peephole thingy with the 85L!

Oh man that'd be awesome!

OH Man!!! ROTFLOL This is sooo awesome! if only I had thought of buying the lens first! I could have gotten that 85 1.2L II it comes with a lens cap so all I would need is some duck tape, a small drill bit(to cut a small hole in the cap) and a roll of film. man I really wish I had thought of that earlier, I coulda saved all that money on the 40D.

LOL
Great laugh, this made my morning.

Mock as you may!

I stand by my decision, there is no other lens in the line up I want more, so I'll get it because I can at the end of the month.

Please note:

There is no other lens I want more, not you, me, it's what I want.

Hm...yeah but still. You could have got a used XT and then saved all the while learning and what not with the kit lens or nifty. I'm actually created a fun way of saving. I'm putting a dollar a day away so at the end of the year I can get the 85 F1.8, 30 F1.4 or anything around $365 that I don't get for Chirstmas or my bday. :D

I'm debating whether this should go in my stickie or not. If anything, it's amusing.

I'm only laughing cause you posted about it here :) I think I'm more laughing with you than at you... however, at the end of the day, you've got yourself one h*ll of a lens!
