Curse all of you and your expendable income, too. :-)

Why I love the 5 D. There's multitudes of reasons I love the 5 D. It's simply a great camera for the money, especially right now.

I use mine for everything. Wildlife, portraitire, and what ever may be. One of the devices I use for general indoor photography is the Big Flip-it. Setting the 5 D to ISO 400 with my 550 EX and Big Flip-it allows me to get some nice kid documentation.

I'll never forget when this camera first came out, There was so much grumbling and moaning about this camera being nothing more than a 20 D dressed up. Boy were those people wrong!!!!!!:p

Wow pete, you do all your wildlife work with a 5D? Crop factor doesn't tempt you? You work is awesome.

You know it's funny that people pull out graphs and charts off the internet and try to prove the dynamic range of one camera is better than the other. If a camera performs to your expectations, than that's all that matters.

Thanks Perry.
I used to use a crop camera for wildlife. I still have a 10 D but can't seem to force myself to use it for Wildlife work. The buffer is so small on the 10 D it would drive me crazy to use it again. I'm getting ready to give it to my brother.

I'm waiting to see what Canon has up its sleeve with all the competition from Sony and Nikon.

If you don't mind me asking, what glass do you stick on the front of this beautiful camera for your wildlife work? I'm doing the old 100-400 vs 400 5.6 dance, and considering a 20D as backup and as a 1.6x TC as it were .

Oh one more thing I love about the 5D? The detail and how it renders skin tones! I used to have to spend a lot of time getting skin tones right in PP, not on the 5D. Come out of the studio, download, get the white balance right, and it's gorgeous!

After all this time, the 5D is still a FANTASTIC camera!
The fact that we are all gushing about this in 2008 is testament to how revolutionary a camera it was back then. In many ways, it continues to be that.

I miss my 5D. I wouldn't mind having one to compliment my 1D MKIII. I couldn't say the same with the 5D + xxD combo. The xxD was always the backup. I wouldn't feel any sacrifice in IQ with the 5D at all. Plus it's full frame and it would have a place for that alone!

At these prices, one should not hesitate to snatch one up!!!

That's the spirit! Ed rader could learn a thing or two from that attitude :p.

Yeah, I don't know what the heck I was thinking, been snapping shots off with it left and right today......Hard to really call the 5D a backup to the mkIII, it's just what I use if the situation calls for it:)

I wish I could afford both...
I guess I could, if I sold some of my expensive glasses and kick the Starbucks habit. LOL!

LOL I almost pulled the trigger today, had a seller but Canadian prices are so inflated, I think I'm gonna hold back until I get back to Hong Kong in May. For now it looks like I'll make do with what I have :p. Hopefully my limited skills can make up for lack of reach. And then I'll crop. And then crop some more :D.

I also still haven't made my mind up , but am leaning heavily towards the prime.
