We pulled into Rhodes Town for a day on our recent cruise. Fantastically photogenic place, I will definitely be going back to spend some more time there.

Here are a few I took around Rhodes 'Old Town', lighting not the best as on a cruise you tend to get there in the morning and leave early afternoon/evening.

All taken on the 5D with 24-70L

Some shots of a few of the entertainers during the cruise.

All taken on 5D with 70-200 f4 L IS with or without 1.4x converter. just stage lighting, ISO 800 or 1600 handheld at full aperture.

Here's my kitty, 16-35L at 16mm.

ISO1000 just cos I was shooting into the light (the cat was majorly backlit) and I didn't have a flash on me.

Bought me this trigger/receiver set
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk …EWAX:IT&item=190236514298 (external link)

About £14 which is nothing. :) Just setup and made sure both work with a 580EX II and 430EX setup which is not half bad. Going to get maybe two more receivers so I can trigger everything wirelessly rather than Canon's optical system. Seem to work ace so far. Need to test them out some more.

Gotcha...problem I have is with the 2 580's, not version 2. They don't have the port to plug them into something, directly.

I've been playing with both flashes, combined at once and it's fun to just control them from one another. Maybe I just need one more flash, and I'd be able to control it all from the 580, via IR.

I know about the ST-E2, PW's, all that other stuff, it's just hard making it work 'easily' with the 580's. Oh well, I'll continue the research! Thanks for the tip!

Personally, I find for the price, these work just as well and since they are radio freq, I have that bit more range which is a nice bonus. ETTL can still work but using a radio/optical combo cancels it out. Im just going to try a few tests to see what I can accomplish. :)

Totally right there with you man...

I've got two Elinchrom RX600s, stands, a soft box, the 53" Octo and skyports coming on Tuesday (if UPS doesn't screw the pooch...)

I still want to get a third Skyport Rx and convertable umbrellas so I can just take my Speedlights out in the field.

It's like a whole additional hobby...

LOL...

After joining POTN, within a few months, I would already an "L"coholic. I suppose there is no stopping now

Doesn't really show of two flashes but it is a lot more fun.

Bit of cross lighting. One flash aimed at the base 1/64 power and the other aimed at the rim at 1/64 power.

Heres one more.

Bare flash to the left of the phone about half meter away, about 1/64. Second flash on a tripod facing down 45 degree angle shooting through a brolley. Should have gone to f8 for this to nail the text BUT I really like this.
