Third one is well done. The others are good, the last just stands out.

These are GREAT shots! Could you please let us know what lens you used? Under "Properties", I can see what focal length, but it doesn't say what lens you used. Thanks so much!

PS, I think it was his 50mm 1.4. It's in the exif...

Go to www.opanda.com (external link) and download their exif viewer utility. It's an IE, or FF, plugin. Then, you can just right click on the image, and it'll show you all! That is, if the user leaves it in the images.

Cheers!

Thanks and I have done that, but in the EXIF, it doesn't say what LENS was used; it only gives the FOCAL length that was used. So he could have used a telephoto or a prime, and since I'm trying to make a decision on a new lens in the near future, I am largely gearing that decision by the photos that I see in this forum, taken with a 5D using a particular lens.

Thanks for all your help and especially to all of you who do list that information with the photos you post.:)

Aha...but, the aperture is 1.6 in the third shot. He doesn't have any other lenses that are that fast, yet (yet being the operative word, here). :)

* Trying to pan a shot when you're lying on your stomach on slate isn't easy.
* Trying to capture a crazy cat chasing after a ball with no predetermined path isn't easy. The AF on 5D is too slow to capture my cat. I need a 1D3! or let's hope the 5D2 is better.

AI servo is your friend here...but, at 1/100th, at 85mm, and f3.2, you're talkin' disaster. Especially with a moving subject at ISO 800. Bump it to 1K or 1250, and use 1/200th, or so, and check that way. Might stop action a little better.

In the second shot, you can tell the middle of your cat is pretty sharp...I think it's just the timing.
