Yeah...unfortunately, it's blown. It is a nice image...though, so, like you say...at least you are able to go back. Florida has '0' mountains that are worth a picture.

Try to save the raw as a separate file, with -2 stops underexposure, and just use that as an extra layer. See if that makes it less bright. ???

Clarence...man...stop teasin! You look like you belong in a movie...as the boss of the asian mafia, in your avatar. Get a black body length coat...keep the shades, and a white scarf. You're in!

Hey, btw, how do you get into those fashion shows? PM me, should you choose.

Random question. Do any of you 5D owners shoot without a flash most of the time?

The majority of the time I don't use flash because of my fast primes.

At night, even with a 1.2L, and no light, yeah. For models, yeah. For macro, yeah. For landscapes, no. For indoors, depends...upping the ISO produces noise if the light is 'really' horrible, but, it's still manageable.

I'll let the ISO creep up a few stops before reaching for a flash...

I just don't like what (unmodified .. on camera) flash does to a scene. It has it's place but it usually isn't where I'm shooting with my 5D.

Thanks for the responses guys. I'm currently shooting with a 450D and I'm planning on upgrading to a 5D or the Mark II in the future. I hardly shoot with the pop up flash but it comes in handy sometimes and there are sometimes you don't want to log an external flash. I am just trying to understand how it would be not having a flash all the time if you know what I mean.

Fast glass = expensive glass > or = need for flash. Depends on the focal length, as well. Oh, and how steady your hands are if you don't have a tripod.

If you plan on getting a 5, you should definitely plan on getting a flash and learning to light your scenes effectively. The 5D is a fantasic body for indoor photography whether it be available light or flash and I assume the Mk II will be as well, and a flash really will help you to get shots you would otherwise miss. A fast lens can only do so much.

When it finally gets announced, you'll probably have to wait a few months before it's available and then (probably) read all the posts about what is wrong with the camera. In the meantime, you'll be getting great pictures and enjoying the 5D which rarely gets a bad word written about it.

lol, after reading all the posts about the mark ii the last couple of days...sure looks like you nailed it!

Here is my complete 5D review:
a bad word, but a good camera

there, i did it :D

really though, the 5D doesn't do too well as a word...i don't even think it's a word

...:)

i agree with what ecorick said. i wouldn't mind shooting 5D until the price drops a little, reviews come out, and bugs get worked out. Canon's cameras don't tend to be that buggy, though, aside from the 1Dmk3. that said, most likely i'll just shoot with the 40D until I get to try a mark II
