No, not secretive, but, I have to be able to deliver, you know. If it falls through, then that's not cool...haha. Gonna be along the lines of a supercar...I can say that much. Just have to find the right model, and also introduce myself to the owner, in a couple of weekends. I'm shooting his wife...a model...in Daytona. So, once I get that settled, then I will find the model, for the shoot. Heck, his wife might wanna do it...hehe. We'll see...but, I'll have more info. on it after the 24th! ;)

Looking forward to it Manish. The blue M3 in the shot is actually her car. We are working on getting an exotic to shoot her with as well. The shop owner is a friend and knows a lot of exotic car owners. So we will see what falls into place.

I hear ya man. Same here. The person I have been in talks with used to be a professional superbike racer. Ended up breakin' too many bones, and his insurance paid him out to stop racing...so, he's retired at 25. And he can't ride anymore, otherwise, insurance won't pay him anymore...so I beleive he's basically done with those days. He still has his superbike...so, once I get there and chat, I'll know for sure.

I wanted to catch some of the melting ice today, so ran out and took a few shots. I was trying to get the sun caught in the drops of water, but the flare monster got me. I'm happy with the crop, but the full size is completely washed out by flare.

ANY AND ALL C&C IS WANTED AND WELCOME! I'm a big boy, I can take critique :)

pepperoni...what kinda lights are you using in that studio? I'm building up a fund, for new lights...so, I'm just looking for something versatile. Ever take those out on location? Just curious.

I'm using AB and White Lightning. Modifiers are a mix of PCB and Photoflex. I take this stuff on location all the time. The VBII is nice to have. I'm considering switching to a pack & head kit though but I'm not sure when that'll happen. I need to rent Profoto a few times and play around more.

Mamiya. Canon. Elinchrom.

I've been trying to figure out what the diff. is between a pack/head combo, versus something like the AB's or Elinchrom RX600's. Jay had sent me some pics of his kit...which looks awesome...but, I'm wondering if the difference will be huge.

Now that I look at B&H's site, I guess a pack/head combo likt dynalite, or elinchrom, etc. is just a heavier combo than something like AB's with a VBII. I've still got some time, to finalize what I'll get...as I'm in no rush.

I guess lightstands that are seriously heavy duty will also be a part of the costs, since there's always a breeze here. I've had the current lightstands blow over a few times...luckily, none of my flashes were damaged. Problem for on location stuff, especially by myself, becomes weight, but, I guess there's always roller carts/cases that will work just fine to lug everything around.

This is why I kept my Elan IIE with EC. Gonna have to go find a nice roll of B&W to work with...any suggestions?

HP5+ :D. That stuff lives in my Elan IIe.

Peter, not sure what time of day that was, but as you mentioned the light got you. What lens were you using for those? Water drops are probably best had with a macro lens, or a lens that is attached to some extension tubes. A+ for effort...that's for sure.

Where to get that? Local CVS type place, Ritz? To order on roll of B&W from BH or the likes...probably not cost effective.

I dunno, it's a pretty popular film, so most good photography stores should carry it. I get it from the place I get prints or the local huge photography store, Henry's.

Short Version:

Monolights = The guts are in the head with the bulb and go where it goes. Power adjustments are made on the back/side of the head.
Packs = The guts sit on the floor with cables running to the bulb. Power adjustments are made on the faceplate of the pack.

Advantage for Packs:
- Don't have to use a ladder to change power if your head is 15' in the air on a boom.
- If the PS goes belly up, you don't ship the entire light for repair, just the pack.

Advantage for Mono:
- Less "spaghetti" lying around the studio floor. With packs you'll have cable from wall to pack then pack to head. Monos mean one cable from the wall to the unit.
- Less stuff to haul around with you. You can take one unit, a stand and an umbrella and go play.

I'm sure others can add their pluses and minuses as well...

It was 1:00, so less than optimal time of day, but I am sticking to my new year's resolution of taking pics every day, and that was all I could squeeze in during lunch.

Lens was a 24-70 from around 2 feet from the branch.
