I recently bought a 5D to join our little Canon family and I love the High ISO and of course the wonderful world of FF. There is so much to see!

Welcome and have fun enjoying your new gear!

Thanks. To be honest, ANY camera would have been able to nail it, well I think. Im going to do a side by side test and push them both and see what happens.

The 24-70L IS still being sold but I can happily give that up and save for some more primes, next is a 50mm. I have 24mm covered from the 12-24 so all I need is something between 100-250 so a 70-200 would fit nicely BUT i want primes there too.

Yep- i'm not using my 24-105 any more since I got a couple of primes. More are on the way.

There's just no going back to zooms once you start- but two bodies makes it much easier with primes.

I was shooting the war demonstrations in london at the weekend and changing lenses whilst in the middle of a jostling crowd would be a nightmare

It just makes more sense, two fast primes. one long and one short, job done.

I just don't see why I didnt do this sooner. Friend at work tried to moan at me for going for a 4mp camera. I realised that I rarely print large this day, most if not nearly all is web use.

I im thinking 135L and possible a 200 2.8L since the longer lenses I can see me using not as often. Need to think about it some more. Did like the 24-105L though :(

Yeah no doubt the 24-105 is a lovely lens- I may keep it just to have on a body that I plan to take everywhere with me daily when I am out and about doing my day job- i miss so many great opportunities by not having a camera with me always.

but when I'm out photographing its just primes for me now. i always used a 28mm and a 50mm FD when I had a film camera ages ago. Gave up photography for many years and when I came back it was all zooms at first glance. Took me a while to find my bearings and this forum helped so much with the move to digital.

I just find that shooting with primes is a totally different "workflow", to use that fashionable term lol. It radically alters the interaction with the world that you see doesnt it?

Not saying its the be all and end all for everyone or the best way of photographing, but for me its purer and just feels right. suddenly the gear becomes transparent and its just your mind, your eye and the world about you. putting a camera up to your face with a fixed lens is a very different thing for me than putting a camera up to your face with a zoom lens.
