Thanks Bruce...and while I guess you are better versed in B&W films than I, I just like B&W a lot. So when you referred to TMAX 3200 film, I had no idea what you were talking about. This is the only one that I applied such a filter to, as I felt it just needed something, other than the traditional B&W treatment. Guess it worked! ;)

There's some models that I work with where B&W just doesn't work...and others, it's just perfect. She's the second one I feel, that has the capability to look good in B&W.

Cheers,
m.

got my 17-40L today and i'm very excited. I wasnt sure what to expect exactly, coming from a cropped camera with a sigma 10-20, but after seeing i can fit my whole room into frame im very excited to start shooting once this snow lets up! I'm wondering, should I just get a regular UV filter for the lens? Thats what I had on my sigma

You don't really 'need' a uv filter...but, if you are going to get one, a 'thin' one will be better than a standard one. It'll vignette more with a standard UV, at the wide-end of the scale.

I just keep a thin CPL (circular polalizer) on it, and it's been good for a while.

Definitely get a thin, esepcially if you ever intend on stacking a CPL or ND filter on top of the UV.

Does anyone have a spare Ee-S focusing screen for sale, by any chance? I remember someone (Perry?) buying one then realising their 5D already had one installed.

Yeah I have an extra one but I'm trying to trade it for the stock Ee-A screen here locally.

I don't post here often, but this is my favourite thread and I think I have read all it since I got my 5D in August. :)

A few from today. (I posted them in the 35L thread - hope it's OK that I post them here too?) All are taken at f/1.4, except the first that is f/2.2. I can't get over how sharp this lens is wide open! It's just a wonderful lens and so versatile.

Nice, Helena!

I should have gone to the nearby cemetary when we had snow here...sometimes inspiration strikes when it's too late:)!

Indeed - Perry and I are going to unite as long-lost internet lovers and we'll exchange details and get each other's screens. ;)
