ISO 50 has its uses, but it's really just ISO 100 brought down a stop - and this is most evident in the reduced dynamic range on the highlight end: if you were gonna blow them at ISO100, they're gonna blow at ISO50.

Got to say that this year, whilst i'm effectively having a year out before studying photojournalism i'm tempted to swap my 24-70 for a 24-105, just for a more light weight and versatile street / urban landscape lens. One of my favourite photographers on pbase uses a 35L / 24-105 combo for street work and it looks to do wonders, whilst being fully versatile as said. When doing PJ work next year though I would never use a 24-105 over a 24-70, well i'd used a 16-35 over both too anyway probably!

35L is gone. I tried the brick, 50L, and 24-105L IS. Went with the 24-105, I liked it a LOT. ...

The 24-105 gets a bad rap. I usually use it for walk around/landscapes and not for portraits, but its a very sharp lens and the bokeh isn't really that bad IMO...

I just got my 200 f/2.8 mkI - built in '95!!, but it looks like its brand new!! I love the built in retracing hood. What a sweet lens and its silly sharp at f/2.8. Can't wait to get out and use this thing.

I think the bokeh is crap but I'm really picky about bokeh and I've used some terrific manual focus lenses that give spectacular quality bokeh - plus I'm spoiled by the 85L.

Holy crap that's a good lens. Now that's quality bokeh.

I feel your pain, no more results like that for a while! Do you post on the newcastle fans forum too? Sure there's a guy from toronto on there?

Understandable. If the 85L is you standard for good bokeh then a whole lot of lenses are going to fall short of the mark. ;)
