well I am wanting a good 50mm now.... I'm just not sure about the sigma. I know the "good" copies rock. I just don't like the idea of how many bad ones you hear about

Even if they added ring USM to it, it would bite into the 50L's sales since they're so close in aperture. Look at the differences in Canon's primes between consumer and professional as far as aperture. Name is Peter and here is my gear:
