That is a nice conversion Tony. I liked the fun atmosphere that looked quite evident in that
series of shots you posted up.

Thanks, guys! Freedom and Fun, FTW!

Am I the only one thinking that a laser sight for the camera would be an awesome gadget? Utterly useless for anything but stupid shots like this, but it would impress the ladies methinks. Or at least blind the kids so they would sit still when I shoot them. Whatever, I want one.

No, I'd find it useful too, especially for the festival I covered where I did a lot of hail mary shots

The question then becomes, how useful would it be in daylight though... ;)

I've been thinking about attaching a little laser pointer to my 5d for an improved AF, but thought that it would be stupid. Now you guys just woke up my DIY-idea :D

Most of the times, I'm using my 50mm f/2.5 on my 5d and I love it! On my 350d, it rarely came out of my bag, because I hated the field of view for a walk around lens (I just picked it up for some macro/close-up), but now I take it with me everywhere I go. (even on dates :D) To bad it focuses a "bit" noisy, but I switch MF quite often. Anyone else uses the 50mm f/2.5?

Thank you

Will this recall ever "expire"?

Im sure generousity has its limit but there was no mention of an expiration date. I wouldn't wait years though.

We've had a little bit of rain here lately, nothing like North Queensland/Australia. I've lived in this house for 5 years, and I've only seen the lake overflow twice, in the last 2 months.

We here in Melbourne have the complete opposite problem! Ahh, what a whack country we live in.

Its the same all around the world. Some suffer from Global warming, others from mini ice age. Everyone says if you dont like the weather wait a minute.
We have had about 8 drought summers here in the past 10 in Oklahoma. I would love some rain and a green landscape for a change. That is the one thing I miss about the short time I spent up in Oregon.

But the weird thing is - Australia just suffered from some of the worst floods (up north) and the worst bushfires (down south) the country has ever experienced.

Ive seen this on the news. Its very shocking. The US is so large we have similar conditions here now and then. Major flooding in one part while others suffer drought and wild fires. Depends which side of the dry line you live on. Here is SW Oklahoma we often see no rain for months when folks just 100 miles away cant harvest their crops because the fields are mud.

I hope the Australians get relief soon.

Wow you guys post a lot. I go to sleep and have 3 pages to catch up on :).

As for warranty, I bought my 5D used with no warranty card or anything. They didn't ask, as this is a general recall of all 5Ds. They will service all 5Ds, not just if your mirror has fallen off, BUT, 5Ds with a dangling mirror will get first priority in the service center for repair.

As for extended warranty, they don't even extend the warranty on this repair :). In the notes, they say that it's a courtesy repair.

Name is Peter and here is my gear:
Canon 5D II, Canon 7D, Canon 40D
Glass - Zeiss 21 f/2.8 ZE, Canon 35 f/1.4L, Canon 40 f/2.8 STM, Canon 24-70 f/2.8
