Has anybody else noticed this?

I posted a picture in G&N forum, while it hasn't reached the 1000:1 ratio, i see countless threads with 4 posts and 4000+ views.
I dont know about the posters in there, but I posted for C&C, not to show off my work to lonely guys at home behind their computers.

That kinda bothers me, that there are people just going in there getting their eye candy and leaving.

Something should be done about this.

It's a visual art form. Ya want me to write up a critique every time I go see a movie too?

Dave, that would be nice.
I do see where you are coming from, but a movie is not the same.

Look at all the other forums. It does not suffer from this problem.

Good point.
I seldom post comments in any of the photo sharing threads. I enjoy viewing the photography then scan the threads for inappropriate posts.

I appreciate this question.

I can only speak for myself, but I am not allowed yet. I can look, but cannot touch. I am sure that we have many voyeurs of different ilks out there who have little to offer. Translation -- sign me up, and let me spend my time sucking up some soft core if I can find it.

Which brings me to a question. Why can people look, but not post, to G&N for a time? Someone told me that it was to eliminate juvenile behavior, but that is easily done with a perma-ban. I am a guest here, so I respect the rules, but I wonder.... If you can gaze all you want, why participate? More importantly, why prove you CAN participate?

Would it make more sense to separate glamor and nude? Glamor deserves its own space -- its one of the toughest and widest-ranging specialties out there. Then nudes could be CLOSED to all folks until they invest their time in the forum.

I bet participation would go up, since the newer blood is often the more enthusiastic blood.

Just a thought.

Honestly, its not just in the G+N area that ends up with this ratio factor, maybe not on the same scale.

I have posted threads from time to time looking for feedback, cc or just general info. You will see very few replies yet countless views.

Something SHOULD be done, but as much as I understand where you are coming from, you cannot force people to reply. I find that a lot of the more frequent members will post replies and I am grateful for anyone who does.

Its just one of those things I guess.

Not fighting e r c k's battle, but do remember. People post work up here for help, I know I do. Every photographer takes a shot that they know is almost there, but they can't find the final piece of the puzzle. One of the values of this forum is to put that picture out there, and hope that one of the many fantastic artists here can help you find what it is.

If you see that 500 people looked at your picture, and no one said anything, it can be a little frustrating. Nothing you can do about it, but its disappointing.

This is a give and take community. We are all just looking for a little more "give" sometimes.

I am one of those who visit the G&N. I do look more than I comment.

Most of the time I have no photographic technique input to give because the posters skill level surpasses mine. I will NOT post just "Nice Pic" or crassly comment on the model, that is me. Thus my posts are limited in that forum.

If I start shooting G&N that I can share I will be posting in the hope that the regulars can assist with C&C but I do expect a very one sided view/comment ratio.

It's like life...it isn't fair, but it's not much of a big deal anyways. The way I see it, the ones who DO comment are the ones who SHOULD be commenting. Granted a few "hey, very nice shot!" "gorgeous model" comments here and there are a good motivator.

I do look a lot, but I try to comment as much as I can or my skill or lack thereof will allow. Now if a thread has 50 people telling the OP the same thing and it's pretty much my exact analysis...I usually won't post. No one wants to hear their mistakes pointed out 150 times.

The only part of the G&N i don't agree with (and I know I'll sound like an old fogey) is there is no policing of age. Anyone can sign up and view and then eventually leave comments....no matter the age. But that is a problem it self that wouldn't be easily solved without some sort of age verification process which would probably too much trouble for what it's worth.

Why not something you like about the shot and something you do not.

If you do not like something about a shot, or find it may be technically incorrect, maybe someone can than explain why a shot may be done that way or be able to take it as feedback as in what people have liked about it.

Nice boobs, good light, don't dig the pose, skin smoothing too much.

You can only type this so many times. CC includes the word constructive. Sometimes there just isn't much to say.

Then other times there is a hot girl, the picture is "the usual" and you don't want to say. "She's hot, typical shot".

When I reply in there, it's because I see something of excellence or a quick tip that cold make it excellent.

What do you suggest that something is?

Never thought about it like that.

Very clear point. Thanks :o
