I was searching on YouTube for some instructional videos and happened upon a series that seems pretty well presented and, to my simple mind, quite informative and easy to understand. I watched the first three and they all made sense.
The first one, for example, covered the fact that a flash exposure is a combination of ambient and flash exposures and demonstrated this quite well. There was also talk about the shutter curtains and flash sync speed. Later episodes move on to studio lighting and metering, plus the qualities of light etc..
For zero cost, they seem quite promising, and perhaps far easier to digest than poring over reams of the written word. Maybe people here can find them useful too.
