This image will be framed and matted as a gift for the coach. All the players will sign the mat. I have been doing this for several years now for the coaches of my son’s team as they are volunteers and do not get paid. All comments are welcomed. Thank you.

I like it and, as a hs head coach, i would love it. My only suggestions are:

1) slide the coach more to the top left corner ... I love the image of him listening/coaching. I just feel that the player's head is being blended with the backboard and takes away from a great point of the work.

2) The play on the far left. Any away you could not over lap as much, maybe slide it down and right a bit.

3) If they had a good record, maybe add that.

4) in the bottom right, a silhouette or faded shot of a time-out or pregame huddle.

I am sure coach loves getting these and they must mean a lot to him. I know I love gifts like these.

I too shoot for local kids teams and do it all for free as a service for the community. I was a long time Probation Officer and feel a need to give something back to the people who I tried to hep. I hope that makes sense. I am curious as to how you did this, what special program would I need etc. Any help would be appreciated. By the way the shot is wonderful and it shows how much that coach cares for those intrusted to his care.

I start by shooting the games, trying to get some good action shots to include the ball and I like to have a ref in there somewhere. I also make sure to get a good shot of the coach “coaching” as the final image will be given to him. I probably cull through 300 images before I start to make the montage. I use Photoshop Elements 3.0 and the book “the photoshop elements 3 book for digital photographers” by Scott Kelby. Scott Kelby’s book explains how to do this very well. As for any hints or tips—practice and it will become easier. Once I had the images selected, the montage took me less than an hour to create. All my prints are made at MPIX. I highly recommend Scott Kelby’s books for anyone using photoshop. He has one to accompany each version of photoshop. Hope this helps.
