Took these shots at Presque Isle State Park where they are considered a very rare visitor, he even made the local "Nature Watch" article this week. I've gone back a few times to try and find him again, but no luck. I'm just glad to have gotten to see him and get some shots :D.

You are so lucky! those shots are gorgeous! I've been dying to see one of these owls. Next weekend I'm going out to look in an area that is good Barred habitat.

fantastic shot Michele The barred is a bird I like to hunt . i saw one once that I flushed so it was on the wing I've gone numb dozens of times when it was near calling who, who, who cooks for you. Yours is a pretty shot with nice detail. I hope you see him again.

Barred owls are so neat, i hear the well know call of the barred owl very often at work, but only get lucky enough to see one when they swoop by a light inthe campground.. although i have called one in very close once. once you get the pattern down its not to hard,, tell you loose track haha

Thanks so much everyone! One of my goals this year was to get at least one owl and so far I've gotten three. It was truly a thrill seeing this bird and it appears no one has seen him since. I went out again today to try and get a shot or two of the great-horned owls on the park but instead got a screech owl which I'll be posting soon.

Wonderful! I shot one yesterday, but it was high up in a tree with branches in the way, so mine are nowhere near this good, well done!

Hi Michele...What a beautiful owl! These are very nice exposures. I especially like the pose of #2. I remember you telling me of your interest in owls; you've made an excellent start with this series. Still looks pretty cold up there. Keep up the good work.
Take Care...tom
