Anyone ever run a strobe attached via PC cord and use 2nd curtain sync? I'm shooting with an XT, and would like to do it with my Bees.

2nd curtain sync doesn't work unless you are using a Speedlite or compatible flash mounted on the hotshoe or connected via the off-shoe cord 2 or 3 cable. You can simulate 2nd curtain sync with non-dedicated flashess or strobes by using a Pocket Wizard MultiMax to trigger the light, though.

So it won't just trigger any flash? I wonder if I mounted my 420ex on my wein safe sync(thus making it full blast, since it's not manual), and using that to trigger my strobe optically. I've got some experimenting to do tonight I guess. Anyone else have a suggestion?

Your only option with the 420EX is to put it on the hotshoe, set the camera for second curtain, hit the FEL button to fire the pre-flash, give the lights a few seconds to recycle and then take the shot within 16 seconds.

What are you trying to do that requires second curtain and studio strobes?

I want to create the trails affect with a model. The more I think of it, I think I can do with just the 420ex with a tungsten gel, and some hot lights to help expose the trails more. Now, if I get a master-capable flash like the Sigma 500 super I just bought, I could use the 420ex as a slave and fire it wirelessly as long as the 500 super is attached via the hotshoe, correct?

Theoretically, yes. I didn't have very good results using the Sigma Super in master mode.

Alright. I guess I'll just have to see how things turn out. Thanks for the pointers.
