I'm picking up a 40D. When I want to use it on a tripod with MLU, should I use a shutter release cable or will using the timer (2-sec.?) give me the same steady result?
Thanks!

Even with the 2 second timer you probably would have some vibration left from pressing the shutter button on the body. As a rule for me I use the cable whenever I use MLU. Even when you use a cable, make sure it isn't pulled or waving when you take the shot.(depending on how sturdy your tri-pod and mount are). John Caputo

Sitting there waiting for the shutter to click will get real old when you set it to 10 seconds especially when you want to take multiple shots.
