Anyone have one of these yet? I want to get a P&S to carry around when it's just not feasible to drag around the 30d. I thought this might be a perfect "purse" camera to carry with me all the time so I don't miss any of totally candid moments with my 3 year old.

Suggestions?

For that price buy the SD850IS, A720IS or SX100IS. It's way too much money for that kinda camera.

I'm getting my sd400 back from my g.f. and upgrading her to my sd700is. On paper the difference seems minimal but in a shirt pocket the 400 is noticeably smaller and lighter. The 1100 vs 850 size/weight comparison is very similar. Is your purse minimalist or does it weigh a ton? That will help you decide.

Or you could also get the sd1000 for cheap now that it's been superceded (probably about to be d/c'd any minute) by the 1100.

^Yup and that's what I'm waiting for. It's a P&S and there's no real need for IS for the shots I'll use it for. Although It could come in handy, for really fun creative shots I'm sure I'll need a small tripod anyhow.

I can't wait to get a small P&S. I'll go crazy with it.

My purse is a decent size, I just don't want it to get super weighted down with something heavy. And, silly I know, I just LOVE the blue color that the SD1100 IS comes in.

I have SD850IS.. it's a a really nice compact camera whcih take sharp pictures and I don't feel much of lags... I am not sure about the SD 1100IS but the specs of it are just very close to the SD850IS... guess either one should be fine..
