Sounds like fun birds, a lot like our titmouse.

Same species group. All of UK titmice are just called tits. That's because we're lazy rather than vulgar. :)

Slightly excessive unmasked sharpened.

I'm not sure what's going on here. There does seem to be a bit of detail loss due to jpg compression or USM. Delightful pics nevertheless Lammie.

Thanks eccles. I'm not really sure what causes the problem. It could be the system I go through to post on here. I take the picture in Raw then I do the slight adjustments in Aperture. The picture is then exported to iPhoto as a jpeg to comply with the posting resolution on here. From here I send to photobucket and then to here both as jpeg. I notice that on transfer to iPhoto it does lose some sharpness. Can anyone tell me if I'm using the correct procedure or what I should be doing as I'm rather new to Apple Aperture. By the way I print the shots in Aperture and they seem fine to me.
Thanks Don.

When you link to an image like your doing, there is no posting resolution, just a dimensional limit of 1024px on a side. The file can be at Best quality though, if you want it that way.

Sorry Mitch, I think I should have put file size there instead of resolution.

I have no idea about iPhoto. I use Photoshop. I read a raw image and do any minor cropping or levels/saturation adjustments before converting to PS image format. I then resize and finally apply a little sharpening/USM to bring back a little of the detail lost by the resizing before saving as a jpg. Quality level around 8/12 is fine for posting.
I daresay others will say apply sharpening at a different point but I think most would agree that you shouldn't do it more than once during post processing.

Thanks gardengirl for your comments, and thank you eccles for taking your time to explain what your processing procedure is. I think that what I'm doing in Aperture is the same as you do and I also did when I was using Photoshop Elements on my old PC. The problem I think is when I export to iPhoto and lose some sharpness, I'll se if i can sort out any other alternative ways to do it. Thanks again.
Don.
