Gosh, I am totally not sure if this is the right section to post this, but I couldn't figure out anywhere else it should go.. so sorry if it is in the wrong place :o

A friend one mine asked me for camera help.. but I have no idea what to tell her for this one.. so I was wondering if I could come to you guys for help :) that way I can pass it along to her please.

Here is what she said:

I have a question.... Well a couple of them actually. I tried asking on the forum, but I just did not understand the breakdown on what tehy were saying. I have a DSLR it is a Olympus C-745 well I found it I could add lenses with an adapter, so I got the adapter and a telephoto lens and macro lens but my pictures are not that great with them, so I am trying to figure out the best way to use them, what settings are for what?

I know she doesn't have a Canon, but I know many people on here can help me so I can pass the advice along :D

Thanks in advance!

Every time someone tells me how sharp my photos are, I assume that it isn't a very interesting photograph. If it were, they would have more to say. ~Author Unknown

Since she's using adaptors she might be confined to the aperture wide open. That's not the ideal situation for sharpness or depth. Hard to say without more details.

Well, actually the C-745's not, AFAIK, a true DSLR. It uses an electronic viewfinder and has a fixed lens to which she attaches adapters. Using the telephoto adapter on the camera she'd need to be at or near the camera's maximum zoom already, and she'll need a very fast shutter speed to avoid camera shake. Similarly, she'll need a high shutter speed when shooting macro.
