I've played with that batch processor a little, works good, but I have a few functions I'd like to do that it doesn't. I'll let you know if I get anything more to work.

Got a quick question. I pretty much use the basic stuff on Gimp but was wondering how to edit out objects in pictures.

Take this shot for example.

IMAGE: http://i51.tinypic.com/10zql1h.jpg

Nothing special, shot on my old crappy camera, but I want to go back there at sunrise/sunset with a ND filter and the powerlines and pole really seem to detract from the shot. What can i do?

CTRL+Left-click on the zone you want to copy, release, then start drawing on the powerline (left-click).

The clone tool is a bit harsh, so I usually finish up using the Healing tool (works the same way) to smoothen the cloned zone.

Top right corner of your picture is the easy bit. Its gonna get tougher on non even background. good luck!

This will be good practice for you. Some areas will be tough. Try putting the Cntrl-Click area in different spots if it doesn't look good. Sometimes you need to change spots for short amounts of the wired depending on what's around it. You can also try the program called Inpaint.

I actually like the power lines in the picture if you could find a way to frame it so that the power lines accentuate the shapes of the waves going by. Otherwise yeah, google "clone tool gimp" and see what you can do.

Yeah I agree with that somewhat, but the one in the top right hand corner particularly annoys me.

Fortunately that's the easiest one!

Good advice from cedm: use the clone tool (with different brushes as appropriate) and clean up with the healing tool.
