Adobe Bridge CS3 Not Retaining Some Settings

Hey, guys ... I need some assistance with bridge. It retains all but one setting. THE ONE FREAKING SETTING that really annoys me badly, I have it set not to require the ctrl key when rating/labeling photos. You can imagine my annoyance when I press a button to label, and have the selected item jump around, specially after I select a bunch of photos I want to label as "Print" so I can pick them up for processing when I'm done ... very aggravating.

So, how do I fix this? I uninstalled CS3, then CS2, then reinstalled CS3. I get the same result in Bridge. I've diddled with the registry, still get the same problem. Now I'm worried I created a whole new problem by opening bridge before I updated it... you see, I have my keywords set up in a nice hierarchy....

Relevant (?) System Stats:

Windows Vista, Pentium 4 2.6, GeForce 7600 Graphics Adapter, 2.5GB ram, Photoshop CS3 (Standard Edition)

Bridge is buggy, i've heard people with this specific complaint before, but on my PC it works fine. On my PC Bridge won't open ACR though.

Hmm.. I did some poking around with Sysinternals tools, and got interesting results. It definitely writes the setting to the registry (Checked writes a binary 1, unchecked writes a binary 0) But, it never reads the setting from the registry.
