Awesome shots! Sharp and good colors.

Sent my 30D in to get the E99 fixed.

I will be selling my 1D classic to get the 30D soon, are there any things prone to failure on 30D's I should check?

Check the half-press on the shutter button and that it's functions behave properly. Common issue on the 20D-50D for dirt to build up in there and cause issues.

Not sure what had happened with my friend's, but it had ended up being a $200 repair (which canon covered for some reason) for a faulty contact in the shutter release that would not activate af or release the shutter consistently and when it did, it would sometimes work properly and other times have a lag which varied in length.

yeah, crap gets in between the contacts, you just need to dismantle the body, take the contacts, give them a quick clean and put it back together again, and all is well :) (took me about 30 minutes to do mine)

I just sold my 1DmkII and am waiting for a 7D. So i am re-learning my 30D. Really it is an awsome camera. With my 24-105L it is a great walk around camera. I even used it at a friends wedding. The photog crapped out on her so I got roped into it at the last moment.

thanks~ i love the 30D + 17-55 combo, that's why i still shoot with it. the IQ and the overall color is just perfect.

doh! sorry to hear that. hope you get the 30D back soon! was it because of the shutter that's giving you the E99?

Yeah, I guess the 30D is capable of good photos. I am looking at upgrading but I'll keep it for another week.
