If I didn't have my 1D as my primary body, I'd pick up the 17-55 for my 30D. Makes way more sense though for me to pick up a EF lens, so I can use it on either of my bodies.

I sent it in yesterday, they called me TODAY, telling me the price and asking for a card to pay with. I asked them for an estimate on when I'd have it back, and they said I should have it back by Wednesday or thursday! Great turn around time.

It was going to cost $240, but since I have CPS, silver level, It's only $177. Which includes overnight shipping back to me. And, no doubt helps my turnaround time in repairing. So I'd guess since it costs that much, it's probably the shutter which failed.

tim, that's awesome to hear! especially @ $177! even for $240, i'd pay to get my 30D fixed. that's how much i love it.

Haha.

How ironic. I was at an event this past weekend, and my 1D's shutter failed as well! So glad I had my 30D to use as a backup. Took a bit of getting used to, compared to the 1D's massive amount of FPS and amazing Autofocus. Definitely lost some shots not having that.

Got to shoot my buddy's 7D for the rest of the event though, which was nice. I don't like the 30D as a main sports body. The autofocus and FPS definitely was lacking.

hummm.. good to hear. the 7D is nice.. and does focus a lot faster with the 17-55 vs. the 30D + 17-55.

Just a fun little shot for Halloween I had made from a shot originally taken with the 20D.

Happy Halloween!

I have to agree with that - I've spent some time looking at it.

I bet Jake was ready for his dinner and a lie down following the walk.

David :)

Confession time. I'm afraid I misposted that picture in this thread. It was shot with a 1DsII and I meant to stick it into the 1DsII thread. I guess I must have had multiple threads open at the time of posting and filled in the wrong submission page.

I noticed yesterday that I had misposted, but as nobody had commented on the shot, I thought I'd just let it slide. But now that Lowner & Woodworker have commented, I have to own up.

Thanks for the comments anyway, if you click through my profile you can see other shots from the day in the Lake District in the Landscape and 1DsII threads.

I keep checking this thread as I still have a 20D and always liked what it could produce. Unfortunately, since getting the 1 series a few months back I have not shot the 20D at all. I'm thinking of having it converted over to IR.

John.
