Here's an inspirational story for all 30D users!!

A photo I took with my ancient 30D was published in the November international edition of National Geographic.

It's quite a thrill seeing my name in the Credit Line in National Geographic

It's a thrill to see one's own name inside the very magazine that inspired me to photograph the world's many interesting sites (external link) by Phil Marion (external link), on Flickr

If you think you really need to upgrade, think again. Maybe you would be better off with a better lens instead!!

I just bought a used 20d for my daughter for Christmas and was trying it out. I took the same shot with my 60d with the same 50mm f1.8 lens and the 60d only came out slightly better, Hell it might not even be any better. Here is the 20d shot. Very impressive.

I debated whether I should reveal what they paid.

Let's just say they paid somewhere between $824 and $826

Wow, Congrats Phimar!!

I would have been happy to let my photo get published in NG, paid or NOT only because it's NG!
Having said that, it's really nice to see them doing the right thing to award the photoG. A huge kudos to them.

I used to get all sorts of email through flickr from people wanting to use my photos for free in their commercial magazines or web in return to "credit my name" which I thought was a joke... I used to respond with a polite refusal but nowadays I don't bother replying at all.

Although not in the same scale of NG, I've had my fair share of getting my photo published in a photography magazine with the 30D. It was a monthly photo comp which I ended up winning and got a nice Manfrotto 055XPROB tripod. :)
It does show that 30D can produce some cool pics.
