Best snap I've seen yet of the Wiggles!

BTW, was this taken with a 20D or a 30D?

I was proud of my 30D this weekend. Did my daughters (dark!) dance recital just fine. The AI-Servo kept up even with a non-USM lens and I probably only had 5/100 that were not in focus the whole night. I am often tempted to grab a 50D/60D, but really the 30D just keeps delivering for me.

(Shot ISO 3200 and pushed to ISO 4000, pretty good for a 5 year old camera)

For the longest time, I had a 20D. I got frustrated with the small screen on the 20D and bought a 30D. Then I had a 5Dc in addition to the 30D. Recently, I sold my 5Dc and my 30D. To replace them both, I bought a 50D. Honestly, I have no regrets. :)

I think it's the end of the line for me with the venerable 20D/30D series of cameras. The 20D was truly an amazing camera when it came out, with many improvements over the preceding 10D. I think it's fair to say that the 20D was the first digital SLR that felt and operated as good or better than a high quality film SLR.

 I will remember you....

I still have my 10D and 20D and use them now and then. I really like the images from the 10D, very clear and pop when set correctly. Here are some images from my daughters' dance concert back in spring of '04.

I used a 50 1.8 for the shots. Worked well for the show.

Here is one more 10D image from Spring of '04. My daughter's end of year school concert. This was in a Jr. College Theater.

I now shoot most of the time with a 7D and use my 40D as back up for when I do some paid shoots. My daughter has started using my 20D and she loves the camera. Great camera, never saw the need to upgrade for IQ. I added a 40D when Canon lowered the price to $900. I never sold my 10D, sure it has some quirks on usage, but get past those and have the right settings the camera does an great job. I will keep the camera and continue to use it in portrait sessions.

And BTW, that image exceeds the forum limit of a maximum 1024 pixels on any side. You can always just post a link it, though.

And in some cases, if you need xxxMP images, then this might be an option: The Brenizer Method Explained With Directions (external link)

I was using an issued 1D MkII when I worked for a newspaper. I got into work one morning and sitting on my desk was a still boxed 20D and Canon grip, with a note from the boss saying here is your backup camera (or words to that effect without the F-words:rolleyes: My boss knew how to use the F-word).. Anyway, I loved that camera and it became my work horse.

Sorry to give it up when I resigned in mid 2007, after 17 years with the newspaper. I bought a 2nd hand 20D about three years ago off the POTN forsale section. Still going strong.

I dropped in to see the guys at the newspaper last Christmas,, it is still going strong with about 300k clicks on it. My old boss showed me some images where one of the guys mounted my old 20D to the wing of little two seater plane and with a remote took a series of photos.. Fantastic!!
