I recently messed up my sensor by attempting a cleaning with a commercialy purchased kit (dohhhh!). Anyhow, Canon wants $550 to replace it so I thought maybe it'd be a good time to trade up to a 50D. I went to my local camera shop and to tell you the truth, I can't justify it. Ya, the 50D can realistically shoot at 3200 which I really like. I like the beautiful display and of course the sensor cleaning! That said, I really don't like it any better than my own camera. I've sent a request for a quote from another company in Toronto, so we'll see if I can get my 30D fixed.

Sounds like time to buy a used 30D and convert this one to infrared.

Lifepixel will do that for $325 US, or they'll replace the stock filter for $375.

Here is another with my trusty 30D,at a beauty pageant & the contestant was standing on a Maryln Monroe style fan which blew her afro hair up.Caught her just as they released the smoke machines & hit her with the spotlight.

Thanks for the idea #6. I've spoken with someone from a repair shop and he tells me that they're famous for quickly wanting to replace items. I'll let him have a look at it. If it's toast, I'll check into Lifepixel.

Are you really sure it's not a sticky smudge?

The bridge is that color yes...although, its a little bit lighter. When i PP'd the photo, i played with saturation/levels a little and made the bridge/sky a little more vibrant. But, the actually color is very close.

Here is a crappy untouched photo of the bridge. I dont like the composition of the photo, so i never posted or PP'd it....

But, it shows the true color...

I bought a 20D, my first DSLR, about 6 months ago and i don't regret it for a minute, it's been a great camera to learn with, the 30Ds screen is much nicer though.....
