Please pardon me if this was addressed somewhere around here but I've searched the net for the past few hours and tried many solutions to no avail.

I just recently upgraded from a Digital Rebel (time to move on) to a 20D and have been using the Sigma 17-70 2.8 for a little bit and needless to say what a difference between the 2 cameras. My buddy just got the 40D and it made me very jealous so I opted to snag a 20D. Had a lot of fun last night using it.

Anyway, I was well aware of the file format changes to cr2 files and took the necessary steps in upgrading on my end (windows imaging components, ACR 4.1, Windows RAW Codec, upgraded to CS3) but everything came to no avail. I'm running Windows XP with the latest everything.

I shoot in RAW and if I try to browse the files in CS, Explorer, or EOS Viewer Utility it shows the folder on the camera as being blank (but there are over a GB of photos on the camera.) I took a few JPG's just to see if there was something wrong with the camera but I can view them fine on my computer.

Anything regarding the issue would be most appreciated.

That's life with Windows XP. The Canon camera driver for Windows XP does not handle CR2 Raw files (it says so right in the README). As it turns out, if you shoot Raw-only you can usually drag-and-drop CR2 files anyway. But for most anything else, you're out of luck. If you shoot Raw+JPEG, Windows Explorer might even show you two copies of the JPEG.

With Windows XP, to get your Raw files reliably you need to either use a card reader or use Canon downloader software (Camera Window or EOS Utility as appropriate).

Download & install EOS Utility 2.2 Updater for Windows from canon that should solve your issue
