Hi guys,

Further experimentation with the camera has yielded interesting results. Now I'm starting to mess around with AV mode, I set the main dial to F/11 and attempted to take a picture with low lighting. Now my camera is completely frozen and I can't seem to do anything with it. Also, the power light has gone off, but I think that's to do with the camera's power saving feature. I know somtimes the camera can take a while to process shots, but surely not ten minutes?

Please help!

Jen

At f/11, what was the shutter speed? Did you get any error codes? What was the battery level at?

I agree, sounds like the battery died on you. Time to charge it again.

how old your camera is?
how many shot that already taken?
I guess this problem is kinda weird... AV mode is just a setting.... and I guess that won't cause any trouble to the hardware...

AV at f/11 will give you a long shutter speed in lowlight...maybe your battery died before the camera was done taking the pic?

Thanks for the advice guys, it was the battery after all :o. There was no indication that the battery was running low, I thought there might have been some sort of warning! :)

Yep! You should always have a fully-charged spare battery on hand. The 400D seems to get really finicky when the battery is low -- it shows the kind of behavior you saw before giving a "Low Battery" message.

Hehehe... same problem here.

The XTi don't give you too much of a warning before dying from low battery.
Just recharge, and you're good to go again.
