I just sold my XT and will be getting XSi when it comes out. Should I get it with the IS kit lens? I already have that focal range covered with my Tokina 12-24mm f/4 and Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8. I'm generally more interested in landscapes. While tripod is a must for landscapes, but IS may come in handy sometimes. I've heard rave reviews about the 18-55 IS. Although I'm not impressed with some sample images at dpreview

Those landscape shots seem a bit soft even at f/11, not much better than the non-IS kit lens. I know $100 is not a lot, but I can use that towards a purchase of another lens (EF 100-400 or Sigma 120-400/150-500)

So what's your opinion on the the 18-55mm IS kit lens for landscape shots? Is it worth the extra $100?

Yes, the 18-55 IS is a deal for the money but, if you are getting good results with your Tamron 28-75, stick with the Tamron.

That new IS kit lens is getting some good reviews. It doesn't cost much, you can always sell it later if you don't feel it has a place in your kit bag, so I'd say get it.

I still use my non-IS 18-55 from time to time when ?i want light and unobtrusive. ~And i am tempted to get the upgraded version - briefly. then i remember what I really want is the 17-55 IS f/2.8 lens....

I'd stick with your 28-75. Save that money for your 100-400 :)
