Hi All,

I noticed some dirt/dust internally on my 600/4 NON IS, so sent it away to be looked at, today they have contacted me saying it needs :

Protector ring, protection collar, assembly barrel, lens G1 ring, click knob nut and lock washer.

Can anybody shed some light on what/where these parts are on the lens as the company I sent the lens to don't know, said I need to speak to Canon UK, which I have been trying to do and have given up, feeling like losing the will to live!!
Other than the dust(which does not show up on images) the lens works perfectly, so don't know what they have found wrong!

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Regards

Rob

Send it into Canon for repair now not later, when it really breaks. The parts are getting rarer everyday.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your replies. I have upgraded to the 600/4 IS but was in the process of selling my older non IS one, when the buyer spotted the internal dirt, so sent it away for a quote and get this list of things, looking at the link mike sent me, they want to replace some collars and rings, (which I'm guessing will stop more dust, but looking into the lens there seems to be no more now than there was when I purchased it 3 years ago. And as I said none of the dust appears on images, they have also quoted me to replace the tripod locking wheel and nut which is Bull****, because it works fine!!)

Feeling slighty angry at this!!

Regards

Rob
