I just got this Gitzo tripod strap (G087B) and I can't figure out how to use it. It came with a warranty card, but not a manual. I'm wondering if anyone else has this strap and if they received a manual. The strap I received has loose ends and doesn't even have loops like the one in the attached diagram. Any help would be appreciated.

Do the ends on yours have D- or O-rings or other hardware on the ends? If so, push the strap through them to form loops like those shown. Loop one end around the tripod just below the head; loop the other around the legs near the base; release this end to use the tripod.

Here are some photos I just took. As you can see, the ends have no buckles or anything to latch on to. They are just plain D rings with no opening or anything.

Tuck the middle of the endstrap through the D-ring to form a loop and slide it over the tripod. It'll then look like the Gitzo photos.

Errr...thanks Jon. Clearly, you were better at putting blocks in the right spot when you were a child. I can't believe it was so obvious. Doh.

I still haven't figured out why there is a length adjustment on the "end strap" AND the thick "shoulder strap" sections though. I would think there is only a need to adjust length in one spot.

OK, so now I just have to find good spots on the tripod to wrap around. Thanks again....I was about to return the strap to the store...even the girl at the local Lens and Shutter didn't know how to do it and told me to return it because it might be missing parts.

Oh...and while I'm thanking you, Jon....I ended up getting a Domke F-1X. It's not perfect, but your photos definitely helped me pick one.

If you're ever in the Vancouver area, let me buy you a beer.
