What do you think/know about Alien Bee's RFT1TX

I'm thinking of picking a few of these up http://alienbees.com/r​ft1.html to use indoors before I shell out $$ for PW. What do you know / think about them?

I wanted to use them with my AB800 as main and my 580's (soon to be modded) as fill & hair, but it seems they need an AC current to power them.

Any help would be great!

I use them with two ABs. They work very well but do require AC power. I believe they are the same as the eBay radio triggers, just supported by Alien Bees. I'm not sure they will work on the 580s.

I have 2 transmitters and 3 receivers that I use on 2 AB 800s and 2 bodies. The ABs are mounted in the rafters of our gym and the transmitters work pretty well most of the time. I believe that there is a lot of interferrence from the gym lights and wireless speaker system, but they fire both flashes about 99% of the time. It's a great set up as I don't have to go up and place/turn on my other radio units that run by battery.

They are similar to the Ebay remotes; I preferred to go through the Paul Buff company.

If you want to fire both Speedlites and studio strobes, a battery-powered system like the Elinchrom Skyports would be a more logical choice.
