Well, my power went out with that storm...so I attempted to catch some more lightning shots using the broken tripod. :D

This one is kinda soft...from either not focused right or the rain.
As is the focus on this one.
This one is looking good.
I like the clouds in this one.
This one....I just like how it turned out with the light and long exposure.

I'm jealous!! Great photos!

I was here today.... It's such a shame that over here in the UK, we're invariably not allowed to photograph inside stately homes etc...

Photographs are records of life. Pity they don't make music when you put them in a record player. :p

GMAE!!

Becky N wrote in post #5222617 (external link)
Cool. I'd like to get some lightening shots some night. Trouble is we are smak in the middle of town so lots of buildings, wires, etc. To go out and get them, well, might as well go out on a golf course with an iron in my hands. Playing lightening pole is not my idea of fun.

What would be ideal would be at my brother's as a storm is passing south of his place. He has a nice deck over his exposed basement. His land then slopes down, nice wide open area for these kinds of shots and I could set up a tripod in his dinning area and open the slider to shoot. He lives an hour away though so it would have to happen when we are out there eating, drinking and scratching.

Thanks Becky. I've seen some great pictures of lightning taken in the middle of the city....the neighborhood is just your foreground. I take mine from indoors at the balcony door, I don't go out either. Not a good idea being in the center of a tile balcony covered in water with a steel rail all the way around. LOL

Those are COOL! We don't often get lightening around here, so it's always a treat when we do. Nice shots.

Thanks Dan.....with all that rain out that way, I'm surprised that there is not any lightning.

Miniflash wrote in post #5223044 (external link)
Robert I love your lightning shots that must be neat to do .

Thanks Deb.....they are fun, but there are many throw aways since I leave the shutter open in the hopes to catch lightning in the frame. If I had a lightning trigger, that would be easier.

Robin Rant

Nice rant Pete. Question though, I saw your focal length was 135mm....how close were you to the birds?

These shots were nice too. If you donated some cash...would they let you take shots inside...for documentary purposes? Give them a copy and you have some too.

Nice macros Deb. Like the red with water drops. What is it?

Yep...memories. I also remember my mother swearing to Fla-vor-aid because they were cheaper than kool-aid....10 cents a pack compared to 33 cents. We had fla-vor-aid coming out of our noeses then.

Can't you do the same with your target Dan, take an upclose shot of the white/grey at the beginning and just use that to set it in post?

Yes, it would, but the WhiBal would be easier, more convenient. I'm lazy. I look for convenience.

:lol::lol: I suspected I would not escape that one unscathed:rolleyes:

Sorry, man, but that's really funny.

And you smell better, too! now, let's get an avi suited to the title.;) I guess you could ask Pudsy to whip one up, if you don't want to shoot a self portrait or explain everything to Leyla.:D

Just say the word, and I'll grab the pencil and paper....

G'MAE, All. Went shooting at the Tulip Farm this morning, followed by a shoot at the Train Yard. Good day, overall.

Nice shots in here, too! Alyssa, I love your macros, especially the one with the water drops. And Pete... Wow, what I would give to be able to shoot some of that architecture.

I tend to ramble. Feel free to put me on ignore.
