Has she had any accidents since the crating Lonnie?

Yes. One, while I was asleep a couple days ago. It was nasty and runny again, too. I don't know what happened. Obviously something made her sick for that one day. She's been ok since then, though. I don't worry too much about the accidents now that I have the Spot-Bot.

My name is Lonnie, but I answer to Thomas too.

How does Minnie cope with being left alone at home all day/night, Lonnie? Ali and I would love a dog, but we don't like the idea of leaving it alone all day.

As long as she has plenty of outdoor time while I am home she seems to be ok with it. I try to spend at least an hour outside with her every day. Preferably two. I have a lot of time off too, so it's not like she's stuck at home alone every day, either.

She gets more attention than a lot of kids I know.:(

Do you have a fenced in yard Pete? I don't think it would be quite as bad if you could leave it outdoors or have a little dog-door to the garden for him to move about himself.

Depends on the breed, too, Pete. Some dogs are more independent than others.

You can have alternating Thursdays and two holidays (your choice) per year off. That's about all I've come up with so far.

I'll pass for now while I work on a more diabolical plan. Where is the chiefs avatar? A clown hat some sun glasses with lipstick, the possibilities are endless.

We'd probably prefer something like a Lab or Retriever, so a dog-flap will be out of the question (since it'll let people into the house).

Yeah, we have a fenced in back garden.

They have ones that the dog wears a special collar so it will only let him in or out, but I understand your concern.

I can't wait for the day we have a house and yard and can get a dog.

I once crawled through my sister's cat door when I was babysitting her kids and locked us all out. I was small for my age back then, though.

What kind of dog?

I am a true believer in mutt/pound rescues so we would probably go that route.

Yup, we'd go that way too.

1) It's nice to do something for a dog that's been abandoned.

2) It's cheaper than breeder-stock.

The only downside is it's difficult to guage any psycological problems the dog might have until you get it home for a few days/weeks.

Most shelters will take them back if they have issues you can't deal with. Which is more than you can say for most breeders. And many dogs are over-bred and have more issues than a mutt in a shelter will ever have.
