I carry a folding knife now, but I'm carefule about where I take it. A couple of years ago I was prohibited from taking my old C-ration can opener into the county fair because the security guard decided it was a weapon.

I've never seen them search for weapons at any fair I've ever been to. Even the security checkpoint at Disneyland is a joke. I used to carry a large folding knife with a 6" blade, and I accidentally brought that into Disneyland (and the fair) many times. The only time I ever had someone object to any knife I had was at the House of Blues in Anaheim's Downtown Disney. The guard there made me get rid of that tiny Swiss Army knife I have.

Hmm.. Ali's just come home. Basically, the school want to be able to cut her salary by about 40%.

I think what they're trying to do is make her change her contract from a full-time one to part-time. That way, they'll probably get out of their obligations regarding maternity benefits.

It's maddening.

Sounds just like any other business that's trying to cut corners and shaft their employees. Sorry to hear that Pete. :(

I'm not really here :p

Interesting conversation re: Leatherman and Swiss knife.
Myself, I carry duct tape, wd/40 and my keys. So far, tis all I've ever needed :)

Pete: Sorry to hear about the situation with Alli :( I hope it all works out for you both.

Have a great day all, hope to catch you later!

Pete: Sorry to hear about this unfortunate situation.

Trip to Mt Rainier during the winter of 2004. We were newly married at this point. Also, the beanie I am wearing in this photo is VERY (in)famous! It was well known in an area where thebugster used to live...

I've also changed the color scheme of my gallery. I'm curious to get some feedback on it. It isn't customizable yet so this is just a preset that Zenfolio offers. I was trying to get away from the typical black ones that EVERYONE uses. Please have a look and offer your thoughts... http://suited.zenfolio.com/ (external link)

Ali has two employment contracts. One full time that covers her morning work, and a part time one that covers her afternoons. It's the afternoons that they want cut back on so theoretically, her full time contract should not change. Therefore, her maternity & other benefits should remain unchanged (unless they're trying to play it on numbers of hours worked per week/whatever).

She has an official meeting tomorrow. What's annoying is the cut in pay. It's not as if we're rolling in money, so it'll make things very tight.

In the year we're paying for a wedding and planning to start a family.
